Fly.io
Machines priced by the second, with no plan to choose.
What it is
Application servers that start and stop in seconds, charged for the time they are actually provisioned rather than for a tier. In their own words: "Plans get complicated, so we just charge based on usage." There is no general free allowance — the free parts are narrow, such as the first ten certificates and ten gigabytes of snapshots a month.
What it costs
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Compute | Per second, pro-rated for the time provisioned |
| Storage | Pro-rated to the hour |
| Plan fee | None |
| Free allowance | Narrow: 10 certificates, 10 GB of snapshots a month |

Our observations
- No plan to pick and no seats to count — the invoice is a list of the pieces you actually used.
- No general free tier, and a card is required on every organisation before you can deploy anything.
- Because machines are billed for the seconds they are provisioned, something that sleeps between requests costs close to nothing while idle.
