Our observations
- Credits are bought before you can call anything: $5 minimum, and OpenAI moved from billing in arrears to prepaid credit.
- Auto-reload is switched on by default when you set up billing. Nothing renews on a calendar, but your card will be charged again when the balance runs low — worth knowing before you top up.
- Credits expire twelve months after purchase. It is the only listing here where money you have already handed over can simply stop being yours.
