What it is

Invoicing and light bookkeeping with no cap on invoices, estimates or customers on the free Starter plan. What you give up is automation: bank transactions no longer import themselves and receipt capture is gone unless you take the $19-a-month Pro plan. The free plan also costs more every time a customer pays by card, which is really how it is funded.

What it costs

ItemPrice
Starter$0 — unlimited estimates, invoices, bills
Pro$19 a month, or $190 a year
Card payments on Starter2.9% + $0.60 per transaction
Card payments on Pro2.9% + $0 for the first 10 each month

Our observations

  • The only one here that caps neither invoices nor customers. If the free tier is all you ever use, it does not run out.
  • Bank import and receipt capture moved behind the paid plan in 2024, which is why people who have used Wave for years will tell you it is no longer the free tool they remember.
  • Look at the card fee before calling it free: every card payment costs $0.60 more on Starter than on Pro. At roughly 32 card payments a month the "free" plan has quietly cost you the price of Pro.
